White chili is made with white meat chicken or turkey and white beans. Some variations include barley or hominy and may include a white corn. White chili is made without tomatoes or red meat, leading to its lighter color. There are many variations for white chili as is the case with regular chili. A vegetarian version of chili eliminates the meat and may choose a firm tofu substitute or may rely only on the beans for proteins
A white chili can be used as a soup or a thicker version can be similar to a stew. The dish is a good choice for winter meals and makes a good warm food alternate for individuals who cannot eat tomatoes or are bothered by the acid levels of a regular chili. A white chili can be served as a topping for nachos and may have a white cheese used as a condiment for the meal.
Typical Ingredients

White Chili Preparation
To prepare white chili, gather all the preferred ingredients and combine them in a large pot. Bring the pot to a boil and then lower the heat so that the chili can simmer. Simmering will take a couple hours so that the beans can soften and the flavor of the ingredients can be enriched. Additional seasonings can be added as the chili cooks until the desired flavor is reached.
Once the chili is ready, it can be served with grated cheese, salsa, tortilla chips, and other garnishes.
