Plot Synopsis
The main character in Where the Wild Thingsis Max who is punished by his mother for "making mischief" one night. By the will of Max's imagination, his bedroom transforms into a jungle populated with wild beasts. Equipped with his wolf costume and a scary facial expression, Max is able to conquer the beasts and become King of All Wild Things. He begins to miss his home and returns to be greeted by his mother and a hot dinner.Critical Reception
Where the Wild Things Are is widely revered as a children's classic and won the Caldecott Medal in 1964 and a Boston Globe-Horn Book Award.
