When a Stranger Calls

When a Stranger Calls is a remake of a 1979 movie, of the same name. In the 2006 film, Jill Johnson, played by Camilla Belle, portrays a babysitter who receives threatening phone calls from a serial killer, whom at first she thinks is just someone making prank phone calls. She soon finds out otherwise.

When a Stranger Calls was directed by Simon West who directed the films Con Air starring Nicolas Cage, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie. The film opened to generally poor reviews and earned $47,860,214 at the United States Box Office. The film is an update of the 1979 film which starred Carol Kane. Among the challenges of the film was updating the claustrophobic feel to the tech savvy modern age. Obviously critics felt that the film could not overcome that obstacle effectively.
