The film adaptation of What Just Happened? received mixed reviews upon its release. Analysis
In Todd McCarthy's review for Variety, he thought the movie was an "amusing outing," but it lacked a "point of view." Scott Weinberg of Cinematical also shared McCarthy's opinions, calling What Just Happened? a "fairly toothless" satire, despite "standout" performances by Michael Wincott, Robin Wright Penn and John Turturro.Variety: What Just Happened? Roger Ebert thought many of the gags in What Just Happened? were better off in a "good SNL skit," calling the movie a "sitcom" instead of a satire.
