John McCain won West Virginia's five electoral votes in the 2008 Presidential election. Polls in West Virginia were open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm on Election Day. Though West Virginia voted for George W. Bush in both 2000 and 2004, its voting history is almost evenly split between Republican and Democratic candidates.
Incumbent Senator Jay Rockefeller easily won re-election in the 2008 contest.
