Wes Helms is a professional baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is regarded as good role player and veteran presence in the club house.
Early Life
Wesley Ray Helms was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on May 12, 1976. After High School, he would forgo college to pursue a career in Major League Baseball. He would be selected in the 10th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves.
Pro Career
Helms would make his Major League Baseball debut on September 5, 1998 with the Atlanta Braves. In 2000, he would play in 100 games for the Braves. He would be traded to Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Ray King in 2002. He would develop into a key role player and spot starter for the Brewers for three years. He would sign as a free agent in 2006 with the Florida Marlins, he would later be granted free agency and would sign with the Philadelphia Phillies.
