Wendy's is a chain of fast food restaurants with over 6,700 locations worldwide. It was started in 1969 by Dave Thomas, who named his restaurant after his daughter's nickname "Wendy." Wendy's is the third largest fast food hamburger restaurant after McDonald's and Burger King. The location of the original Wendy's was closed down in March of 2007 from declining sales. http://columbus.bizjournals.com/columbus/stories/2008/12/22/story1.html In April 2008, they announced plans to sell the company to Triarc, the company that owns Arby's restaurants.
They are best known for their signature square patty. Menu consists of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, French fries and beverages, including the Frosty drink. Some of Wendy's former slogans included the popular "Where's the beef?" which began in 1984 and "Give a little nibble" in May of 1987http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendy%27s#Advertising. In October of 2009, their slogan was "You know when it's real."

Wendy's High School Heisman
The Wendy's High School Heisman was named after college football coach John Heisman. The award was created in 1994 to honor high-school sport athletes, and became a very prestigious award as the years went on. The award is sponsored by Wendy's and Archie Griffin, who is the only person to win the Heisman Trophy twice and is also currently the President/CEO of the Ohio State University Alumni Association. Schools can nominate one female and male athlete from their school per year and in late October, the field is narrowed down to 1,020 State Finalists – 10 male and 10 female per state (plus the District of Columbia). In early November the field is narrowed down even more to 102 State Winners, with each state having one female and one male winner.
A judging panel in mid-November selects 12 national Finalists of the ward, one male and one female from six geographical regions of the United States. Out of the 12 national Finalists, Two National Winners, one male and one female are honored during ESPN’s national telecast of the college Heisman Memorial Trophy on December 9. 2009's winners were Kyle Pollock from Wiggins High School in Wiggins, Colorado and Malia Cali from St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School in Hammond, Louisiana.http://www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendy%27s_High_School_Heisman
