Categories and Awards
Webbys are awarded in more than 70 categories organized by type of entry—website, interactive advertising, online video and mobile content. In each category, two awards are given. The first is the actual Webby Award, the recipient of which is chosen by a panel of judges. The second is the People's Voice Award, chosen by visitors to the Webby Awards website.Gala and Acceptance Speeches
The Webbys are awarded at a gala held annually in New York City. Winners' acceptance speeches are famously limited to five words. Past speeches have included:- Cute Overload: "not bad for posting kittens"
- TripAdvisor: "because some hotels really suck"
- David Bowie: "I only get five words? Shit, that was five. Four more there. That's three. Two."
