During a live broadcast on The Weather Channel, meteorologist Kim Perez was proposed to by her boyfriend Marty Cunningham. The December 27, 2009, proposal caught Perez off guard as she was finishing up a weather report. Cunningham, who is police officer in Kennesaw, Georgia, walked on the set as the surprised meteorologist exclaimed, "Hi!" Suddenly, piano music began playing and Sgt. Cunningham said, "We've been talking about this for a long time. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Cunningham then got down on one knee and said, "So I'm asking you today, will you please marry me." A large heart with the words "will you marry me" covered the weather map behind the couple. Perez said "Yes I will." When the couple hugged, Perez said "I can't believe this, You got me!"
