We Rule

We Rule is the new free social RPG game for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, bringing the popular gameplay experience of Farmville to Apple's popular mobile devices. Where Farmville allowed players to manage a farm, We Rule ups the ante, allowing players to manage an entire country, including growing crops at a farm, build and manage a city, as well as set up shops, and selling goods to other players. We Rule is inspired by the Facebook game FarmVille, but also borrows elements from city-building games like Sim City and Sid Meier’s Civilization.

We Rule is developed by Newtoy, and is published by Ngmoco. It was released for the iPod Touch and iPhone on March 20, 2010, an iPad version was released on April 1, 2010. We Rule is available through the Apple App Store or iTunes.

In the weeks after it initial release, We Rule was downloaded millions of times, and since, the game hosts an estimated 2 million player sessions per day. The game requires an online connection to play.

We Rule News

On June 17, 2010 Ngomo announced a big update to We Rule, named version 1.1. In this new version, players of We Rule will get the chance to add extra realms to their existing realm. These new realms, called by their direction (eg "South Realm" etc), will be available for players once they reach level 15.

Next to the extra realms, version 1.1 will bring new buildings, improved realm building, a warning box before you accidentally sell off a building, and several other improvements. No arrival date has been provided for version 1.1.

On May 28, 2010, a major update has been released for We Rule. With the update, several changes have been implemented. Most importantly:

  • The Level cap for We Rule is now Level 30.
  • A new Ruby Castle Upgrade is now available for Level 30 players
  • Ruby Groves can be used on your Kingdom at Level 26
  • Level 18 players get the option of building Prison and Stocks.

Also:

  • Golden Roads can now be built at Level 15
  • Orange Groves have been imbued and as a result their harvest time has been lowered to 6 hours

We Rule Popularity

We Rule isn't complex to play. Especially in the early stages of play, focus lies on planting crops, letting them grow, and harvesting them again to generate income. Even so, players are eased into the game by going through the provided tutorial, which ends as soon as the player reaches certain preset goals, including building a house.

Building a house costs coins, one of two main currencies in the game. Coins can be earned by growing and harvesting crops, by taxing houses, and by selling products through shops.

Houses cost 100 coins to build, but this amount can be earned back by taxing it. Each house can be taxed every four hours, and each taxing round earns four coins, effectively making a house profitable after four days, provided the player is able to tax each four hours consecutively.

Shops can only be built by players who buy the Plus+ package with their We Rule game, which can be done at any time. While a player can buy a shop, he can have a friend manage the shop, making the shop profitable to both. Shops can be much more profitable than houses, while houses have the advantage of being available in the free game, and providing a steady stream of revenue.

Many actions in We Rule earn Experience. When enough experience is earned, the player levels up, which awards him coins and Mojo. Mojo can be used to speed up actions in We Rule, including growing crops instantly, creating buildings instantly, and finishing the manufacturing of goods in shops instantly. We Rule: Crops

In We Rule players are able to grow a wide range of crops. Each type of crop has its own characteristics, both in upkeep, growing time, and revenue (Gold and Experience). Based on your current goal (either maximizing Gold or gaining as much experience as possible), different crops will benefit the most.

Some growth times:

  • Corn 45 seconds;
  • Rice: 15 minutes;
  • Onions: one hour;
  • Green beans one day.

Friends are key to becoming a great "We Rule" player. Friends can help you manage your shops, place orders, and you can gain experience by visiting their neighboring Kingdoms. Plus, you get to show off your great Kingdom, or learn from their layout on how to improve your own. Also, you need to find a friend for the "Hire your Friend" quest.
