Wave Race 64

  • Guide Note:

Wave Race 64 is 64-bit water sports racing title for the N64. The game features players racing on jet skis. The game was sponsored and promoted by Kawasaki, whose products were visible in the game. It has recently been re-released on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console. At the time of its original release, the game received very high praise by video game critics. Electric Playground and Cinescape Online gave the game a perfect 100 percent ratings.
  • Gameplay

Not only does a player have to win the race by outdistancing the other jet skis, they must maneuver through several buoys located through a race. Red buoys, marked with an R, must be passed on the right side. Yellow buoys, marked with an L, must be passed on the left. For every successful pass, the player earns a boost. Missing five buoys during a race results in the race ending. Leaving the course for more than 10 seconds also counts for a disqualification. The main mode in the game is Championship mode. In this, the player must beat a series of tracks and place first. The mode is broken into four difficulties: Normal, Hard, Expert and Reverse. Reverse is a mirrored event with Expert difficulty. In each race, the player must accomplish a certain amount of points in order to pass and move on to the next level.
