Waterskiing

Water skiing is when a person is being pulled from behind by a boat while traveling through the water. A skier can be dragged behind a speedboat, or possibly by a dragline. For beginners to the sport, water skiing fundamentals are of utmost importance because learning to keep your balance, what obstacles to watch for and the basic essentials will make for a much happier experience. Allowing yourself to have professional instruction is advised, as this gives the skier more time to enjoy the water.

The first water skiier was eighteen-year-old Ralph Samuelson who decided that if skiing on snow was possible, then so was skiing on water. On June 28, 1922, Samuelson first attempted to water ski on Lake Pepin in Lake City, Minnesota.http://www.abc-of-skiing.com/water-skiing/history.asp It took Samuelson and his brother close to a week of practice before they succeeded at staying up in the water.
