The Comedian is a fictional character from the Watchmen comic book series.
Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays the role of a crusader, named the Comedian, in the film version of the comic. The Warner Bros. film opens in U.S. theaters on March 6, 2009.
Background
A retired superhero, The Comedian, is killed by an unknown assailant, who throws him out of the window of a skyscraper. His former band of vigilante friends are convinced by Rorschach to help him seek the truth about the murderer, before he kills the rest of them.
Characteristics
He is an amoral, nasty and aging superhero, who was government-sanctioned after the Keene Act required superheros to be registered.
