Washington DC is home to four major sports teams, the NFL's Redskins, NHL's Capitals, NBL's Wizards and MLB's Nationals.
Television plays a big part in the culture also, with shows like Bones being filmed in the District and the Disney sitcom Cory in the House uses a backdrop of the city. Series such as The West Wing and Commander in Chief are fictional stories based on the government and security of the District.
