Warren Ellis is a British author, comic book creator, screenwriter and blogger. His works include Transmetropolitan for DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, Nextwave for Marvel Comics, and Planetary for DC Comics' Wildstorm imprint.
Wide-Screen Comics
Ellis has made his reputation writing comic books – whether his own creations or franchise work – with cinematic appeal and a touch of parody and / or love for the conventions of the genre. His work on Stormwatch, The Authority, and Planetary is larger than life while remaining character-driven and humanist.
His work for both Marvel and DC injected new momentum for mainstream properties such as Iron Man, Thor, and the Justice League of America, and his dystopic Transmetropolitan was one of the most popular titles for DC's Vertigo imprint.
Television
Ellis saw a pilot filmed of an adaptation of his Global Frequency comic, but the show was never picked up by a network. He is developing a series for AMC.
Online
Warren Ellis writes columns for the Suicide Girls website and one for Reuters on Second Life.
