In 2005, Churchill was invited to speak on a panel at Hamilton College in upstate New York. Before he appeared, however, excerpts from a 2001 essay Churchill wrote concerning the 9-11 attacks appeared in the college newspaper, and Churchill was disinvited. On August 25, 2008, during a protest just prior to the start of the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver, Churchill became involved in an incident with FOX News reporter Griff Jenkins. Jenkins allegedly attempted to ask Churchill a question and when Churchill wouldn't answer, allegedly put his hands on the fired University of Colorado professor and activist.
