  • Conquest Campaign

    The Lord of the Rings: Conquest features two campaigns in its single-player mode. One focuses on the Armies of the West and follows the major events of the Lord of the Rings films. During this campaign, players get the chance to control many of the major protagonists from The Lord of the Rings, including Gandalf, Aragorn and Legolas. The other campaign focuses on the armies of Mordor in a hypothetical scenario in which The One Ring was never destroyed and Sauron never defeated. In this campaign, players can embody the evil wizard Saruman and even Sauron himself. The campaign mode can be played co-operatively with another person on a split screen and takes approximately ten hours to complete.GameSpot: The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Impressions (July 15, 2008)

  • Objective 1: Destroy the Siege Towers

    1. Start this mission as the Scout.
    2. There are two siege towers on the other side of the battlefield that must be destroyed. Run towards them.
    3. As you get close, press LB to turn invisible. Run around to the back of the tower on the right, and wait until most of the enemy have pressed forward.
    4. A Troll is pushing the tower. Get behind it and press RB to climb up. Then, press the correct button when prompted to take away half his damage.
    5. Cloak yourself immediately when you hit the ground and run away from the nearby enemies. Once they stop giving chase, return to the troll and finish it off.
    6. Cloak yourself again and run away until you gain some ground on the enemy, then return to the tower. Go underneath until you see the prompt to press RB. Do this, and you'll set the tower ablaze.
    7. Repeat this entire process for the second tower to complete the objective.

  • Objective 2: Kill the Oliphaunts

    1. Become Legolas when asked if you would like to play as a hero.
    2. Storm the Oliphaunt on the right side. You should be able to reach it with little trouble.
    3. Stand on the right side of it, next to it's front left leg, and you'll be prompted to press RB.
    4. Next, you'll have to enter a sequence of button prompts. First, it's just one button, then a sequence of two in a row, then three in a row. Respond before the knife icon turns red. If you do this successfully, you'll kill the Oliphaunt and earn the "That Still Only Counts as One" Achievement.
    5. Find the other Oliphaunt, marked with a yellow arrow, and kill it in the same manner.

  • Objective 3: Destroy Siege Tower and Kill Oliphaunt

    1. Another Oliphaunt should appear near your current position. Quickly get to its front left leg and run up it, pressing the appropriate buttons to kill it.
    2. The siege tower is also nearby. Run around to its backside, so you can see the troll that's pushing it along.
    3. Hit the troll with a fire arrow, then retreat further behind the siege tower to gain some distance between you and the enemies around the tower.
    4. Keep hitting the troll so it chases you. It needs to come far enough that you can quickly run back to the siege tower and sabotage it before the Troll can come back and hit you. Press RB to sabotage the tower.

  • Rally to Theoden

    1. Head to the yellow arrow. You'll be given the option to play as Eowyn, but it's best to stick with Legolas or an Archer if you're playing on "Heroic" difficulty or higher.

  • Kill the Witch King

    1. Thoeden will be killed. You must avenge him by felling the Witch King.
    2. Keep your distance from this boss and hit him with each of your special arrows: fire, poison and multi.
    3. HINT: Aim for the head if possible, as this scores a critical hit, causing even more damage. This task is made easier thanks to The Witch King's elaborate head dressing.
    4. Keep hitting the Witch King with arrows. Retreat if he gets too close, and try to stay away from surrounding enemies. Killing him will end the mission and give you the "Battle of Pelennor Fields" Achievement.
    5. Achievement: To earn "No Living Man Am I," you must beat the Witch King as Eowyn. It's best to try this on Casual difficulty. Because this boss can see you even when cloaked, draw him to an area where there are few other enemies. Toss a bomb at him to knock him down, then follow up with a combo of X, X, Y, Y, Y, Y, B. Repeat this until the Witch King is defeated.
