• Wallet Evolution

  The evolution of the wallet began as a billfold in the 1600s to hold currency, but it wasn't until the 1950s that a bi-fold wallet with slots to hold cards was introduced. As credit cards became popular so did spaces in the wallet to hold them. While men began using bi-fold or tri-fold wallets and placing them in a pant pocket, women used larger versions of the wallet and stored it in their purse.
