The Wake Forest Demon Deacons Men's Basketball team plays in the ACC Men's Basketball Conference of the NCAA. Wake Forest has several intense rivalries with nearby schools such as NC State, North Carolina and Duke.
Wake Forest entered the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament as a fourth seed in the Midwest Regional Bracket, favored by many to reach the Final Four. Demon Deacons Legacy

The program suffered a tragic loss in July of 2007 when head coach Skip Prosser passed away suddenly. Among the well-known players who have worn the gold and black have included Tim Duncan, Josh Howard, Chris Paul, Muggsy Bogues and CBS Sports lead analyst Billy Packer. Packer led the Demon Deacons to their only Final Four appearance in 1962.
