• Early Career

  After graduating college from Hampton University, Sykes discovered her standup abilities when she entered a contest in Washington DC in 1987. She soon began performing at local venues. From there she decided to move to New York City, where she landed her first big break, opening for Chris Rock at Caroline's Comedy Club. By 1997, she joined The Chris Rock Show as a writer and has since acted on Curb Your Enthusiasm as well as her own show, Wanda at Large.
