• History

  The school has primarily been known for the success of the football team, but the basketball program has experienced an upswing in productivity thanks to head coach Seth Greenberg. They have made 2 appearances in the NCAA Tournament in 1996 and 2007, and are expected to qualify for the 2008 tournament as well. The Hokies have also won National Invitation Tournament titles in 1973 and 1995. Historic players from the past include Dell Curry, Bimbo Coles, John Wetzel, Deron Washington, and Allan Bristow. They were long time members of the now defunct Metro Conference before joining the Big East in 2000. Then in 2003, they switched to the ACC along with Boston College and Miami.
