• Virginia Madsen is an American film actress who got her start in the early 1980s, playing "Princess Irulan" in David Lynch's Dune and "Lisa Taylor" in the 1986 film, Fire with Fire. In 1997, Madsen appeared in the Francis Ford Coppola drama, The Rainmaker, alongside Matt Damon.

• Career

  Madsen got her big break in 2004, when she starred as "Maya" in the film, Sideways', which also starred Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church and Sandra Oh. For her performance, Madsen received an Academy Award Nomiantion and a Golden Globe nomination.

  Since Sideways, Madsen has appeared in Firewall, A Prairie Home Companion, The Number 23, and The Astronaut Farmer. In 2009, she will appear as "Dorothy Binney Putnam" in Amelia.
