In 1977 the station launched as the Madison Square Garden Network, but by 1980 the name was officially changed to the USA Network. Wrestling
USA Network began broadcasting WWF (now WWE) Raw on January 11, 1993, live from Madison Square Garden.Dawn.com: Monday Night RAW: 15 Years of Sports Entertainment (Jan 12, 2008) It was the first network to regularly air wrestling on a weekday, during prime-time. The success of wrestling programming led TNT to start airing WCW Nitro during the same timeslot. The two networks traded back and forth in ratings until the WWF moved Raw to TNN (now Spike TV) on October 10, 2000. Raw remained there for five years, resigning with USA Network in 2005.
