    The Rebels played their first game in 1968 and played as a Division II independent. They continued in Division II until 1977, when they joined Division I.Official Site: Record Book (20.6 MB) The Rebels then joined the Mountain West Conference in 1982 and played in their first Division I bowl game in 1984, winning the California Bowl over Toledo. It was later revealed that several players were ineligible for the 1984 season and the team was forced to forfeit the entire season, including the bowl win. Ten years later, UNLV played in the Las Vegas Bowl, defeating Central Michigan 52 to 24.
