  • Turkish Coffee

The Turks invented the only method of coffee brewing still in use today, and the technique leads to extremely thick, dark coffee. The method dates back to the 1500s. Coffee beans are ground exceptionally finely. The coffee powder is then placed in a vessel called an ibrik, along with cold water and sugar. The mixture is boiled three times, and then poured into cups. The design of the ibrik prevents the grounds from going into the cup.
