  • Football Career

    Polamalu was born Troy Benjamin Aumua and attended high school in Winston, Oregon, where he played football, basketball and baseball. In his senior year he was selected to the All-Far West Team for his football play at running back and defensive back. He was recruited by the USC Trojans, where he started all three years and shared a room with quarterback Carson Palmer. In 2003, the Pittsburgh Steelers chose Polamalu 16th overall and he was instantly used in the defensive scheme. He has been recognized as one of the NFL's top defensive backs and has been selected to every Pro Bowl since he entered the league.
