• A toaster oven is a small counter top oven capable of toasting breads and baking small pizzas and baked goods.
    1. Price range: $15 to $400
    2. Caution: Clean up drip tray often to avoid fires
    3. Caution: Unplug after each use
    4. Caution: Keep out of reach of children
  • Toaster Oven vs. Conventional Oven

Toaster ovens are far more energy efficient then ovens. They are smaller so they heat up and cool down faster. They have most of the capabilities of conventional ovens but not much of the capacity.
  • Safety

After using the toaster oven always unplug it. The buttons and knobs could easily be bumped into and accidentally turned on. Young children might also try and play with knobs or buttons. Unplugging when not in use limits the chances of it accidentally being turned on and starting a fire.

Always keep the drip pan clean of crumbs and spills. The build up could catch fire. If a fire does start inside the toaster oven unplug it immediately and wait for the fire to go out. Don't open the toaster oven until the fire goes out.

  • Cleaning

Make sure the toaster oven has cooled off and is unplugged before cleaning. Remove racks and drip tray and wash them in soapy water. Wipe the inside and outside of the toaster oven with a soapy sponge or rag. Never submerge the toaster oven.
