Music in The Departed
Like many other films by Scorsese, pop and rock music are frequently played in the background. The opening sequence features The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter", the third of Scorsese's films to use this song (the others are Goodfellas and Casino.) "Let It Loose," also by the Stones, is played during the first meeting between Leonardo DiCaprio's and Jack Nicholson's characters.Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" is heard during the love sequence between DiCaprio and Vera Farmiga, as played by Roger Waters and Van Morrison.
