Did You Know?
- The women bring their own dresses and frequently share them.
- The Bachelor has input into who gets chosen for the dates.
- The producers arrange some group dates so that the chosen women may possibly divulge to the Bachelor what is happening when he is not around.
- The producers decide the rose ceremony name calling order.
- In order to keep the ceremony natural looking, only three to five names are called and filmed in a segment (so the Bachelor can remember them) until all roses are given out.
- Chris Harrison's wife receives the left over roses.
- When a woman leaves the show, she is given access to a counselor, a hotel room and food.
- The couple are given special phone numbers, after the finale, so that they can keep in touch.
- The Bachelor and his chosen lady normally talk daily, as well as each Tuesday morning so that the Bachelor can explain his actions from the previous night's show.
- The two are encouraged, and facilitated, to spend time together, between the end of filming and the show's finale.
Jason Mesnick
Jason Mesnick is the 13th bachelor. He was chosen for the role after being rejected by DeAnna Pappas on the fourth season of The Bachelorette. He is the single father of a son named Ty and lives in Kirkland, Washington.DeAnna Pappas' Return
Mesnick was not surprised when DeAnna Pappas showed up on the set of The Bachelor according to Reality TV World. On January 16, 2009, Reality Blurred posted a video that showed a pinkie ring, to viewers during the preview, on the woman to whom Mesnick proposes. Rose Ryder of "The Bachelor Examiner" reveals that Molly is wearing a pinkie ring on her right hand, as evidenced in a preview of the finale, while she was curling her hair. It also shows a pinkie ring on Melissa's left hand. Reality Steve stated on his blog that he knew the finale ending three weeks ago. Melissa, the sales rep from Texas, was indeed given a ring just as the earlier spoiler showed. The twist comes when Mesnick reportedly breaks off their engagement, after two months of dating, during the "After The Rose" show. Texas manufacturing representative Steve Carbone posted February 18, 2009, on his website, www.realitysteve.com, that someone close to The Bachelor series revealed to him that a dramatic and shocking ending would transpire for the show. He states that the facts are that Jason and Melissa are no longer dating and that Jason is now dating Molly. Carbone insists that the producers of the show noticed an immediate romantic vibe between Molly and Jason and were afraid that the show would be ruined if they didn't ask Jason to create conflict. Post Finale Spoilers
While Jason Mesnick picked Melissa Rycroft during the finale of the program, the relationship started to unravel after the taping of the program, but prior to the final air date. After the finale aired on March 2, 2009, Mesnick went on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and announced his affection for runner-up Molly Malaney. -
Bachelor March 2, 2009 Spoilers
Deanna Pappas returns to the show and visits Jason Mesnick. She talks about the mistakes she made with other men. She talks Jason Mesnick through his decision. She is convinced that she choose badly. Jason rebuffs her advances. As she leaves, she gives him the advice, "Be Smart, Be Honest" when choosing the woman of his dreams.With 15 minutes left in the program Mesnick sends Molly Malaney home.
Resnick ultimately told Melissa Rycroft that he loved her, bent down on one knee and proposed to her. She needed a moment to collect herself and said "yes". When all was said and done, Mesnick presented Rycroft with the perfunctory "last rose". She also accepted the rose.
