Steve Carell is a comedic actor who took on the role of Michael Scott (the American counterpart of Ricky Gervais' David Brent) on the TV series The Office in 2005.
Variety announced on August 14, 2008, that Carell would team up with Tina Fey on a new comedy film called Date Night. Marshfield Hills General Store
Carell reportedly purchased the 155-year-old Marshfield Hills General Store in January of 2009 in Massachusetts, where the actor resides part time. The store is famous for its Civil War history having sold Union army uniforms to soldiers. The stores' former owner, Sherry Bechtold, stated that she sold the business to Carell because she knew he wanted it "for the right reasons." She went on to say that she "had other offers" but "was concerned about the neighborhood and that it remain a country store." Carell invaded the homes of millions of Americans as a correspondent on The Daily Show before he tackled the big screen with break-out supporting roles in the Jim Carrey comedy Bruce Almighty and the Will Ferrell vehicle The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Soon after, Carell became a full-fledged star as the lead role of Andy Stitzer in the Judd Apatow-directed smash hit The 40 Year Old Virgin in 2005.
