  • Pike's Roast Free Coffee

    Starbucks offered free coffee to customers on April 8, 2008, to introduce their newest blend of java called Pike Place Roast. Speculation surrounding what the special promotion might be was generated over the weeks leading up to the event via a television advertising campaign that simply proclaimed, "04.08.08." It was revealed the day before the event that the company would be giving away eight-ounce samples of their new brand of coffee for 30 minutes, with the timing of the giveaway to take place simultaneously across all U.S. time zones.
