    On March 5, 2009 new trailer for the film was posted online. It opens with a young Kirk recovering from a bar fight. A patron tells him that he knew his father. He was the captain of a stars ship for 12 minutes and saved over 800 people (including Kirk). He encourages the troubled kid to enlist in Starflight. We see Kirk train, fight and ultimately become captain of his own ship when the rest of his crew is injured.     The Star Trek franchise is beloved by science fiction fans, including a number of actors. Chris Pine declined a role in the adaptation of James Ellroy's book White Jazz in order to be cast as James T. Kirk. Zachary Quinto, popular with science fiction fans due to his role on the television series Heroes, portrays Mr. Spock. Eric Bana, who has previous credentials in the science fiction fan community for his portal of Bruce Banner in The Hulk and portrays the villain in Star Trek, self-identifies as a fan. Winona Ryder is cast as Amanda Grayson, Mr. Spock's human mother.
