• Sony Pictures has obtained the rights to produce a Smurfs movie for the big screen. The film will incorporate live action with animation to produce an effect similar to Disney Animated Films' production Enchanted, where humans and cartoon characters interact with each other.

• Meet The Smurfs

  The Smurfs were created by Belgium-born cartoonist Pierre Culliford and first appeared in the 1958 comic Spirou. From 1981 to 1989, the Smurfs aired on television in an animated cartoon created by Hanna-Barbera Productions.

  The Smurfs are blue creatures that are three apples tall. They live in a secret place in the forest called Smurf Village and are guided by the good wizard Papa Smurf.
