• Life and Career

  Sean Combs was born in Harlem, New York. His father, Melvin Combs was killed in a shooting when he was three. Melvin worked with Frank Lucas, on whom the movie American Gangster is based.

  Combs attended the Mount Saint Michael Academy and then Howard University for college, but dropped to pursue a career as a music producer. His first big client was the late Notorious B.I.G., with whom he created an empire that promotes clothing, television shows, restaurants and movies.

  Artist Tom Patti launched a lawsuit against Combs in late January of 2009 claiming that the rapper stole his sculpture design in which Combs used for his new bottle of cologne called Unforgivable.
