Brief Biography
Goodell began his career with the NFL in 1982, taking an internship with the league offices in New York. After a year, he moved to the New York Jets franchise, serving in as a public relations and administration staff member. In 1984, he began a three-year stint back with the NFL offices in New York, working as a public relations assistant.Moving up in the rankings in 1987, Goodell became the assistant to the president of the American Football Conference Lamar Hunt. In the 1990s, Goodell began working his way up through the administrative ranks of the NFL, serving as vice president of operations, executive vice president of business and football development and executive vice president of business, properties and club services.
