De Niro is a method actor and will include whatever tactics he feels is necessary to get the other actors in the film to give their best performances. For instance, during the filming of The King of Comedy with Jerry Lewis, he directed some anti-Semitic epithets at Lewis in order to enhance and make authenic anger which was to be demonstrated by the acting character. According to a Peoples Magazine article, Lewis recalled that he forgot about the film cameras and was only going after Robert DeNiro's character in the film.[ [3] ]
