• Early Life

  Burr was a high school and college football player and a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated Wake Forest University in 1978 and became a sales manager for a lawn equipment company for nearly two decades.

• Political Career

  Burr began his stint in the House after an unsuccessful campaign in 1992. He was elected to the Senate to fill the seat of John Edwards, who became the running mate of John Kerry in the 2004 Presidential election. Burr is a member of six Senate committees:
