After exhibiting an early natural talent for musical performance, Rubio became a member of the music group Timbiriche at age 10. As a teenager, Rubio was able to get roles on various telenovelas. In
1991, she officially began her solo career after signing with
EMI and releasing her debut album,
La Chica Dorada. Rubio's most recent
Spanish language albums have all reached the #1 position on the
Billboard "Top Latin Albums" list. Rubio was nominated for a Latin Grammy both in 2004 and
2005 for "Best Pop Female Vocal Album".
