• Career

  At the age of 13, Taylor signed with Irene Marie Models. There she met photographer Jean Renard, who became her manager and helped her win the Fresh Faces contest in New York City and a $500,000 modeling contract.Taylor began professional modeling at the age of 14, and was a millionaire who owned her own company by age 16. In May 1996, Taylor set a record by appearing on the cover of six major women's magazines in the same month: Allure, Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, Self, and Shape.

• Car Accident

  On May 2, 2001, Taylor was badly injured in a car accident in Atlanta, Georgia. The driver of the car, her current-boyfriend, reached down to answer his cell phone and swerved off the road and smashed into a utility pole. Taylor was wearing her seat belt at the time; however, she suffered severe internal injuries, including a collapsed lung and serious liver damage. The accident left her in a coma for six weeks. She has had 41 surgeries since.
