Brief History
One of the first Empire's to rule Niger was the Songhai Empire. In the 19th century century the area would come under loose European control. In 1922, it would become a French colony. Niger would become a autonomous state in 1958 and then be given full independence on August 3, 1960.Geography
Niger is located in West Africa between the Sub-Saharan and Sahara Regions. It is the world's 22nd largest country. It borders seven countries Libya, Nigeria,Benin, Algeria, Burkina Faso,Mali and Chad.
