  Nicole Kidman is recognized as one of the most successful actresses to come out of Australia. Although she was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kidman was raised in New South Wales, Australia, by her parents who are both Australian. She attended high school with fellow actress Naomi Watts.

  Kidman first garnered national attention for her work in the thriller Dead Calm and the box office hit Days of Thunder where she met future husband Tom Cruise. She earned critical acclaim for her performance in the 1995 film To Die For, for which she received a Golden Globe award.

  She later co-starred in Stanley Kubrick's final film, Eyes Wide Shut, opposite soon to be ex-husband Tom Cruise.
