New York Giants attempted to coax former player
Michael Strahan into returning to the team for the
2008 NFL season. With
Pro Bowler Osi Umenyiora out for the season due to injury, the Giants were looking to compensate for the loss on their defense by bringing back Strahan. After some consideration, Strahan turned down the Giants' offer, electing to stay retired.
