NASCAR rookie Michael McDowell, 23, was involved in a very rough crash on April 4, 2008 at Texas Motor Speedway while taking qualifying laps for the April 6 Samsung 500 race.
McDowell lost control of his No. 00 Toyota while heading into Turn 1 of the track. The car then bounced off the barrier and rolled eight times before finally landing on its wheels.
McDowell was able to walk away from the crash with only minor injuries. On the Today Show on April 7, McDowell said that the car was "doing about 200" MPH.
