His mother, Jean Duncan, was a single parent as Duncan's father left when he was young. Duncan dropped out of Alcorn State University to help support the family when his mother became ill. He worked at different Chicago clubs as a bouncer. He is six feet five inches tall and weighs 325 pounds.

• Acting Career

  Duncan was given the role of Bear in the film Armageddon in 1998. His more recent works include The Whole Nine Yards, Planet of the Apes, Daredevil, Racing Stripes, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, God of War II and Kung Fu Panda.
