The McDonald's All American Game features teams of the best high school basketball players competing in an exhibition game at the end of the regular season. The event also features a dunk contest and three-point shootout. Being a McDonald's All-American is the highest level of honor that a high school basketball player can achieve. Many NBA greats are former McDonald's All-Americans, including Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, and many others. Selection for the boys' team began in 1977, while the girls' team began selections in 2002. The event is sponsored by McDonald's restaurants.
