• American actor, director, writer and producer Matthew Modine is the star of such films as Short Cuts, Full Metal Jacket, and Married to the Mob.

    His television credits include And the Band Played On (which garnered him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations), the Lifetime television movie Sex and Lies in Sin City and the Showtime drama Weeds.

    Modine also authored the book Full Metal Jacket Diary, which is a collection of his on-set photographs accompanied by reflections on his experience working with legendary director Stanley Kubrick on the epic film. It was published in 2007, twenty years after the film was released.

    Modine founded the initiative Bicycle for a Day. The mission of the organization is to encourage everyone to make small, affordable changes to their daily routines in an attempt solve environmental issues. The official Bicycle For a Day launch is set for September 20, 2008 at New York's historic South Street Seaport.
