Backstory
According to memorabilia collector Keya Morgan, who discovered the footage and brokered the sale, the film was shot in the 1950s, and the unidentified man was thought by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover to be either John F. Kennedy or Robert F. Kennedy. The film was obtained by the FBI, and subsequently classified, to be used as a political tool against the Kennedy family. The brothers are both widely reported to have had affairs with Monroe. -
The sale
Morgan reportedly learned of the film while researching a documentary, Marilyn Monroe: Murder on Fifth Helena Drive, through speaking to FBI agents and police sources. One source mentioned the existence of the film, and Morgan found a copy in the possession of a deceased informant's son. The seller wishes to be unidentified, while the buyer has promised to keep the film private and unavailable. -
