March 4, 2008: Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island held presidential primaries. With four contests on the same day, and over 600 delegates up for grabs, March 4th was the biggest day for primaries since Super Tuesday.

Results
A total of 370 pledged Democratic delegates and 256 Republican delegates were allocated. Republican candidate John McCain won enough delegates to presumptively capture the GOP nomination, and his main rival, Mike Huckabee, dropped out of the race after results were announced. The March 4th primaries were a major victory for the Hillary Clinton Campaign, as she won three out of four contests, and ended Barack Obama's string of 11 consecutive primary victories. -
