  Makeup, a type of cosmetic, can be any form of product that is applied to the face/body creating a change/enhancement of color or feature. The application of makeup is a form of art that has been around for centuries. The purpose of its use varies. The average modern day person uses makeup to enhance their natural beauty and correct imperfections. However, it can also be used for other reasons such as visibility in stage production, concealment (camouflage) and costume, to name a few. Makeup can be liquid, powder, aerosol, cake, mousse or cream formula. The pigment colors are infinite. Eyes and Lips are among the most popular features to enhance with Makeup. Makeup is an important part of history and is constantly evolving.

• Application

  1. Always moisturize before applying makeup.
  2. Apply concealer under the eyes and to any other blemishes and blend. Choose a concealer a shade lighter than your skin tone.
  3. Dot the foundation on your face in sections: forehead, cheeks then chin. Stiple the makeup by bouncing a sponge applicator up and down working the foundation in.
  4. Using a large powder puff, dust translucent powder over your foundation to set it.
  5. Pencil in eyebrows or for a more natural look brush in powdered eyebrow shadow.
  6. Apply eyeshadow primer to the eyelids. Then, use a medium color of eyeshadow all over the lid, a dark color in the crease, and a light color under the eyebrow. Stay in the same color family.
  7. Use an eyeliner pencil liner on the upper lash line. Get as close to the lashes as possible, then blend liner into the lashes with a smudge brush. You can also line the bottom lid if you so choose. Apply black mascara on upper and lower lashes. Use no more than two coats to avoid clumping.
  8. To use blush, smile and brush on the round of the cheeks then sweep upward framing the eye. If it's too bright, blend it a little for a more natural look.
  9. Apply lip liner and lipstick to lips.

  Unlike }food products, cosmetics are not as strictly regulated by the FDA. Some people are concerned that the ingredients used in the manufacture of cosmetics may be carcinogenic or estrogen mimickers, that could potentially cause cancer or skew hormonal balance, altering fertility.
