Ma Ying-Jeou is the current President of Taiwan. Prior to his victory in Taiwan's 2008 presidential election, Ma served two terms as the mayor of Taipei. He advocates stronger ties with China, and was the chairman of the Kuomintang Party from from 2005 to 2007.
